The NFL has a long history of controversy, but this week’s news is unprecedented. The league announced that the New England Patriots would be getting $8 million for their Thursday night game against the Tennessee Titans, while the Jacksonville Jaguars will only be paid $4.25 million for their Monday Night Football matchup with the Chicago Bears.

The jalen hurts is a quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the 2018 NFL Draft. His salary for Thursday Night Football is double what Tom Brady will make this season.

Tom Brady is unquestionably wealthier than Jalen Hurts. After all, he’s played in the NFL for 21 years and earned more than $290 million in on-field wages alone. Hurts, on the other hand, is just in his second NFL season and has made only $3.4 million.

However, when Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday night to face Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles, the greatest quarterback of all time will earn twice as much in one night as Hurts would in the entire season.

This season, Tom Brady will earn an average of $1.6 million each game.

It should come as no surprise that the best quarterback in history is also the wealthiest NFL player in history. In his 22nd season in the NFL, Brady has made $291 million, which is $21 million more than the next highest earner (Drew Brees). What’s more, guess what? He still has a few years and tens of millions of dollars in the bank.

Brady earned a livelihood as a short-term player with the New England Patriots. He never signed a contract longer than four years or for more than $72 million, but when you play in the NFL for two decades, the money mounts up.

He signed a two-year, $50 million deal with the Buccaneers in 2020. Brady modified his contract to a four-year agreement that voided to a one-year pact after winning the Super Bowl in his first year with the club. This season, the future Hall of Famer will make $27.5 million, averaging $1.6 million per game.

For a couple hours of effort, it’s not bad.

On Thursday night, Tom Brady will earn twice as much as Jalen Hurts for the season.

So, we now know how much Brady is paid this season. But what about Jalen Hurts, his Thursday Night Football opponent?

Hurts’ deal, as a second-year quarterback, is clearly not in the same ballpark as Brady’s. After hearing his name called in the 2020 NFL draft by the Eagles, the Alabama and Oklahoma product signed a four-year, $6 million rookie contract. He made $2.55 million last season owing to a $1.9 million signing bonus, but his compensation for this season is just $883,871.

That’s correct, Brady’s salary for Thursday’s game will be almost twice that of Hurts for the whole season.

Money will not be the deciding factor. TNF matchup between the Buccaneers and the Eagles

Brady may be paid much more than Hurts, but in the NFL, money doesn’t matter much after the ball is kicked.

The Buccaneers are seven-point away favorites against the Eagles in their Thursday Night Football showdown. With a 4-1 start to the season, the spread is more than justified for the defending Super Bowl champions. Philadelphia, on the other hand, is a tenacious squad capable of competing with the best in the NFL provided it protects the ball and plays solid defense.

Regardless, Brady should be able to pick apart this defense the whole game. The Eagles secondary just cannot handle the Buccaneers’ arsenal of weapons. It might be a long night for Philadelphia’s defense if they can’t generate any pressure on Brady throughout the game.

On the other hand, if Hurts is to beat Brady in his first meeting with the famous quarterback, he may need to play his finest game as a pro. The Buccaneers’ defense has been hampered by injuries, and they’ve failed to stop the pass all season.

This one is going to be a high-scoring shootout, and we’ll see whether the young gun can stay up with the 44-year-old on TNF.
