The Flash’s showrunner teases a major storyline for Iris in Season 8.
The the flash season 8 villain is a major storyline that will be featured in the upcoming eighth season of The Flash.
The CW’s The Flash will return this autumn for its eighth season, with the five-part premiere event “Armageddon” premiering in November. After that highly anticipated occurrence, the series seems to be moving towards the heart of Season 8, and viewers may expect a big plot for Iris West Allen (Candice Patton.) Dealing with Iris’ time illness will be a major aspect of the season, according to series creator Eric Wallace, and will be a season-long issue for the series to overcome.
Dealing with Iris’ strange temporal illness isn’t going to be a part of “Armageddon,” according to Wallace, but it will be thereafter.
“After ‘Armageddon,’ Iris’ temporal illness is resolved,” Wallace added. “Solving Iris’ time illness is a major element of the season, and it’ll take the whole season to do so. And this will have serious consequences for Barry and Iris’ friendship and marriage.”
Iris started phasing between time planes without explanation last season on The Flash, as fans will remember. All that is known is that her molecules had become unstable, necessitating the intervention of the Still Force, Deon. Iris was able to return to the present and assist the rest of Team Flash, including her future son and daughter, in defeating Godspeed, as well as reaffirm her vows to Barry (Grant Gustin). Many hypotheses have been proposed as to why Iris has been sick. Even the show hinted that Iris may be expecting a child, but Barry performed a pregnancy test that proved otherwise. Other hypotheses include the potential that Iris is gaining abilities on a more permanent basis, as well as the possibility that the effect of her stay in the Mirrorverse in Season 6 has yet to be fully realized.
The only thing we can be sure of is that whatever is going on with Iris isn’t going to have much of an effect on “Armageddon.” Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen, Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, Tom Cavanagh as Eobard Thawne, and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk will all appear in the five-part event, which was announced in August.
“Simply stated,” said The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace in a statement, “these are going to be some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever.” “Plus, our fans are in for some really spectacular moments and big shocks. And we’re doing them on a much larger and bolder scale than our regular Flash episodes. Yes, ‘Armageddon’ is much more than simply another graphic book plot. It’ll be a must-see for all Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. To be honest, I’m excited for viewers to see what we’ve prepared.”
The official summary for “Armageddon” may be found below.
Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton), and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate fight to rescue the planet when a strong extraterrestrial menace comes on Earth under unexplained circumstances. But, with time running out and humanity’s destiny on the line, Flash and his allies will need the assistance of some old acquaintances if the forces of good are to triumph.
The CW’s The Flash Season 8 premieres on November 16 at 8/7c with “Armageddon.”
