The Black Phone trailer has arrived and it’s a doozy. Ethan Hawke is the sadistic killer “The Grabber” who captures people in the dark of night, takes them to his warehouse, and tortures them for hours on end.

Mike Patterson, that’s a lot better. According to the official summary, “The phone has stopped working. It’s also ringing. With a new horror film, director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots and teams up with Blumhouse, the genre’s leading brand. Finney Shaw, a timid but bright 13-year-old boy, is kidnapped and imprisoned in a soundproof cellar, where crying is useless. Finney finds that he can hear the voices of the killer’s past victims when a disconnected phone on the wall starts to ring. And they’re dead bent on preventing Finney from suffering the same fate as them.”
The Black Phone is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
