Guild Wars 2’s Shadow of the Mad King is live and will be available until October 20th. To celebrate, they are also having a bonus XP event with double experience from killing mobs in the Mad King’s Labyrinth.
Tyrians, have a wonderful Halloween: It’s time to pay tribute to the Mad King Thorn once again in Guild Wars 2, and you have until November to do it (Twitter initially said November 2nd; the patch notes says November 9th). (Edit: The tweet has now been updated, indicating that it is now the 9th!)
“The Mad Realm’s gates have reopened, and Kryta’s most notorious monarch, Mad King Thorn, has returned to Lion’s Arch to conduct court!” In today’s patch notes, ArenaNet makes the announcement. “Loyal vassals of the king are strongly encouraged to partake in the festivities: meet the inhabitants of the Mad Realm in events across Kryta, tour the Mad Realm itself in the labyrinth and terrifying clock tower, compete with your fellow mortals in Lunatic Inquisition, Reaper’s Rumble, and the Mad King’s Raceway, attend to the king’s whims in his notorious pastime of Mad King Says, or match
Updates to achievements, a “new guest” and boss encounters in the labyrinth, new weapons, a new mini, a new recipe, new guild décor, and a rebalancing for current monsters are all included in the patch notes for the festival this year. In addition, ArenaNet “tuned the Mad King’s Clock Tower’s timing to minimize catastrophic miscalculations on the last leap.”
Even if you don’t celebrate Halloween, there’s a double-experience event going on for the next week.
“As an unique start to the celebrations, adventurers will get extra experience, magical finds, and reward-track advancement throughout Tyria! On addition, during the Halloween Bonus Bash event, adventurers at or above level 10 who seek out the Mist Stranger in their starting map will get a once-per-account choice of class-appropriate main-hand weapons that increase in strength as they acquire levels. It’s the ideal opportunity to begin your adventure career, whether you’re a new player or a seasoned veteran!”
The dye change we discussed this morning, as well as touch-ups for the current DirectX 11 beta, Druids’ Celestial Energy, problematic boon stacking, and perfectage reduction effects, are all included in today’s release.
